On September 18, 2023, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (“the Committee,” “the ICRC”) of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (“the College”) made a decision regarding the practice and conduct of College registrant Mohamed Abdelkader. The Committee’s decision followed a College investigation into a complaint made a former patient. After reviewing this information, the Committee identified concerns with Mohamed Abdelkader’s practice in the areas of patient communication, collaborative care, discontinuing care, business practices and record keeping. In order to address these concerns, the Committee decided to require Mohamed Abdelkader to complete a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program (“SCERP”). Mohamed Abdelkader will be required to review College standards and resources and work with a practice enhancement coach to address gaps in patient communication, collaborative care, discontinuing care, business practices and record keeping. 

Since 2017, as required by law, the College has been posting information about SCERPs on the public register. A SCERP is ordered by the ICRC when they have identified concerns regarding a physiotherapist’s practice or conduct. A SCERP is an educational program and is not a finding of wrongdoing, professional misconduct or incompetence, nor is it disciplinary in nature.

The Committee’s decision followed a College investigation into concerns that were reported to the College by an insurer. After reviewing this information, the Committee identified concerns with your practice in the areas of patient care, record keeping, business practices, working with physiotherapist assistants, supervision, and communication. In order to address these concerns, the Committee decided to require you to complete a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program (“SCERP”) involving a resource review and working with a Practice Enhancement Coach.
