Following a joint investigation with Cobourg Police Service, York Regional Police , Belleville Police Service, and Halton Regional Police Service, Zak Bayfield (Bayat), 40, of Whitby, was arrested on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Zak Bayfield was charged in March of 2016 after letting off a gunshot at the former Quinte Secondary School, then holding up a downtown RBC bank.

On January 16, 2014 a panel of the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee referred allegations pertaining to the conduct of Mr Bayat to the Discipline Committee for a hearing.
